HISTORY
After twelve years of being involved with computers, the last six of which I was an independent consultant, the IRS cracked down on the 1099 crowd. Thus, I was forced to establish a corporation, so in 1995, HXD, Inc. was formed. HXD had been my dba as a consultant since 1987. And what did HXD stand for? Even though I picked the letters somewhat randomly just to have a three letter name, I came up with several explanations: Hard Times Development was a popular one.
In 1997, I formed a partnership with a good friend to implement an internet startup. We changed the name to Webjibe to better fit what the company did. Jibe is a fast turn in wind-surfing. We hoped to do fast turn-arounds surfing the web. Although the company did not come to fruition, it did put us firmly in the dot-com boom and our technical knowledge was desireable. Webjibe reverted to the consulting company which it had been previously.
After the dot-com crash in 2000, work dried up for an independent programming conslutant (whoops! freudian slip in spelling). Competition for the few fulltime jobs available was tough due to outsourcing and the large numbers of engineers who had been left in the dust by the collapse of the dot-com industry. In 2004, I dissolved the corporate entity known as Webjibe, Inc.

PRODUCT
Over the years, Webjibe has worked on video games, shrinkwrap applications, custom applications, internet technology, graphics, control software, and utilities. The domain knowledge has involved lawyers, accountants, audiologists, brokers, manufacturing, many managers, and of course, in the game industry, a lot of wacko types. I have edited technical books and an almost technical coffeetable book, and wrote "Build You Own Flight Sim in C++" which is now an out of print collector's item worth $85.
Other highlights and noteable projects: evaluation of the Commodore 64 prototype; PaternshipMaker, which was a runner-up for Best Vertical App by the Software Association in 1988; working on 3D graphics for the Sony Playstation prototype; Time-Warner's Interactive TV; ReSound's programmable hearing aid user interface; clearstation.com (now owned by E*Trade) where i programmed the stock feed and graphing engine. These stand out as examples of the caliber of work which Webjibe brings to a task.

THIS SITE
Michael Radtke, the owner of Webjibe, was a member of Mad Fables and created this site to house their musical memories. Over time, the extent of the site went beyond the Mad Fables culture. First, Mike expanded the site to include his post-Fables musical compositions. Along with these mp3 downloads were musical flash videos, a byproduct of learning new technology. Then, Patchez, a MIDI utility for Sibelius music software was added to the site as a public service tool, Then, the S.A.S.reunion site was tacked on along with his sister's bed and breakfast place on Block Island, the family Secret Santa manager, the corrections to the Corsica trail hike, and several photo collections (Rance's 'barn-raising' and Gillam Family Reunions).
The cgis are all written in c++. At first, I mixed in php and java, but I prefer c++, and I get to call the shots. All pages, except a handful (home, privacy, webjibe,404) are created dynamically using a template system for easy changes without touching cgi code. Of course, after.I did this, style sheets became the industry norm.
