A Windows utility program for Sibelius Sound Sets
latest download version: 2.1 (June 20, 2003)
expansion card files update -- March 31, 2004

Intro
Patchez (patch easy) was created to facilitate the editing of sound sets used by Sibelius 2 I have expansion cards in two of the slots of my synthesizer and didn't want to type in the 360 or so patch names (as I had to do for version 1.4). The new file format did not make it easy to adjust the files since they used the array based numbers. I wrote this over 12 hectic days in Visual C++ on Windows 2000 on a Penitum 4 !!. I have also used this program under Windows95, but not 98,ME,XP or Vista. Most features have been tested once -- but that don't mean that things don't break when you're coding. If you find a bug that bothers you, drop me a line, and I'll see if I can get to it. br>
Usage
This applet manipulates the sound set file(s) that come with Sibelius version 2.1. These are not dynamically inter-twined.You must change the file with Patchez and then start up Sibelius If you change the sound set while Sibelius is running, the changes do not show up until Sibelius is closed and then re-started.

As of March 31,2007 there were well over 900 downloads and yet only two beers (sigh).

There is HTML documentation now included in the distribution. Use your browser to open the Patchez.html file in the directory where you unzipped the files. The documentation is updated with each new version.

Suggestions, Bugs, Irritations
I have changed my policy users not writing me because nobody paid attention to it anyway. Please note that if I do not write back to you, it is due to one of the following reasons: 1) your request was lame. 2) I deleted your email because it looked like spam or 3) I'm looking into your request -- these things take time -- this ain't my freaking job, by the way, and working on Patchez cuts down on my music time.
Bugs can be reported but please send all information (your operating system, the soundset files you were using, etc.) Use some common sense -- Tell me what happened as best you can.
I am not a storage house of patch files, I don't know the MSB/LSB settings for expansion boards on every synthesizer -- and this program was written to assist Sibelius users, what the heck are you writing to me about Cubase for???

Future Versions
The newest version preserves numstrings and note names and allows manipulation of them in the patch dialog. Since I do not use these features in Sibelius, it would be nice if you report all screwy behavior concerning these features.
If you would like a version of Patchez in your native tongue and can translate from the English version, write to me. We might be able to work out a translation table since I normally keep all text isolated..
