Release, Bio, and Accolades   October 10,2009
Rich has released his fourth CD, Put the Glass Down. Check out his newest originals (download or stream) and continue to be amazed out his originality and virtuosity.

Spence, who continues to perform in the Washington D.C. area has been writing reviews for an online music site, Old Town Crier. Catch his archived column where he enlightens everyone on his lifelong journey in music. It is exceptionally written -- if the newsletters were still forthcoming, we'd certainly try and coerce him into writing them.

Rockin Retro Mind Blowin Moon Gas Ear Candy Award was given to the group for its live concert at Ramapo. The website, Act 1 Now Playing, has picked Mad Fables for its 'Editors Pick' and features them on their web site. Bill Williams, the site's owner, also wrote the first review os the Ramapo concert on Archive.org. Thanks, Bill!

Spring Feast Reprise   August 18,2009
The fifth Spring Feast might have been the most exotic. Fresh venizon was only one of the dishes that fed the masses. And the Fablers were up all night cooking not music but deer and congratulating themselves on the road kill they had found.

Of course that's part of the fable...but the music that was played that day had some special moments. Uploaded to Live Music Archives (LMA) and to this site (Spring Feast 5), it is jammed packed with energy that came to define the Fables' sound.

Also note that Dennis unearthed a version of Crap which is now available in the song discogrpahy section -- just click on SONGS in the floating letter menu above if you can catch it.

BTW, the original Mad Fables album, Get Off , is being sold by a European web site for 200 euros (or $280). Russ Allison reports from a European Collector web site.

New Releases   July 4,2009
A lot of people "done been busy". So, here it is. First off: lay ears on Rich Rheiner's new tracks from his CD entitled Moons Are the Best, thirteen new compilations with four reprises. Have Murphy on Us appeared on the original Get Off album, and check out Bone Dry for a more maniacal take on his finger picking lickin'.

Bruce Radtke has released his third CD - Cowboy Jazz, a departure from his former CD interpreting sixties folk music in a jazz vein. This is straight ahead jazz with vibes, piano, bass, drums and guitar. Check it out online at cdbaby.com or Bruce's website (which also lists his NY metro area gigs). Published by BMR. By the way, rumors have it that he is looking for a name for his new band that does gypsy jazz. Chez Jingo-Django?

A third performance has been uploaded to the LMA (Live Music Archive). The "Porch Recordings" -- so named because they took place on a porch -- are the third entry into Mad Fables lore in the internet's giganormous archive of rock music. Take a listen for some tunes that were not played in public often, including Deliverance, Child Beyond His Years, Jonesin and Other Side, among many others!

Live Music Archive   March 23,2009
The recent acceptance and addition of the live recordings to archive.org live music archives is fantastic. Two performances have already been uploaded and you can hear some of the old songs with new, improved digital polish! (actually Dennis worked his butt off on getting these tapes prepared; You can see buttless Dennis at pants-slide-down.org).

Ramapo State College performance is one of the best live recordings of the Fables. Check it out at LMA (Live Music Archive). The concert for the benefit of John Dunne is also available there -- which included most of Dugan's Autumn Song, Pimping Down Pine and Outer Spose

Anymore memories out there? Drop a note if you have pictures, videos or tapes. I hear Russ Allison just sent a box -- so more recordings in store!

More on Alichwer   October 6,2008
So as it turns out, Racky has sent the recording boxes to Dennis in Oregon and this project will definitly go into 2009.
There are over 50 reel-to-reel tapes (each tape holds 1 hour at 7 1/2 speed to 3 hours at 3 3/4 ). You do the math.
A lot of music, talking between songs, miscues, shenannigans and weird things. (Like blowing power fuses on one side of the stage and buzzing noises from the light show made from automobile headlamps.).
Dennis is sorting out the whole mess. And then he will repair New Orleans.
Meaning for your ears, some new recordings are dribbling down.
The site has to be rewritten to accomodate the new fodder. See the song list page Notice the new section for cover songs. Also note that when you click on a song, there can be multiple listings for recordings (currently Woman).
Enjoy!

Alichwer Uncovers Past   August 30,2008
Dennis "the soundguy" Alichwer has found a slew of new tapes which hold some of the previous categorized MISSING SONGS. Included in the samples are Outer Spose and You Left It Outside. (Both live cuts from Bottom of the Fox, PA.) Dennis reports there is a lot of cuts on the tape he recovered and as the restoration progresses you can look on this site for recovered goodies.
This means Racky will have to get his butt in gear and create a new system for distinguishing different versions of the songs.

Hawaiian Writer Righter   March 23,2008
Rich Figel's columns can be found in the Star Bulletin. It's called Addicted to Life. That's the latest link and if you search there for "Figel" they have links to his past columns. None of which are about his new found activist nature to restore and preserve the Hawaiian beaches access. Go, Rich!
For those who don't or are unable to remember, Rich was awarded the BWMS by none other than Mario Mulligan in 1977

Long Time Passing   October 23,2005
Bruce Radtke, brother of Fabler Mike, has released his first solo album. The Bruce Radtke Jazz Trio performs original arrangements to some pop songs of the sixties including Sounds of Silence and Where Have All the Flowers Gone?, each done with a unique groove, fresh ideas, clear tones and unmuddied mix. Available online at cdbaby.com or Bruce's website (which also lists his NY metro area gigs). Published by BMR.

Caught Acting Up On Chestnut Street   March 23, 2005
Extraordinary guitarist and madman, Rich Rheiner has released his new CD, Caught Acting Up On Chestnut Street. It contains twelve original tracks of Rheiner material, fresh from his home studios. Eclectic in its musical styles, it showcases the talented guitar work and expressive ideas which comprise Rheiner's unmistakeable style. A reprise of Tune Changer corrects the old Fables rendition, and a wonderful play-on-a-theme merges a line from Dugan's Autumn Song with Indian tabla in Autumn in India. It's available on Full Pint Rekerts and published by Kukanatoones.

Surfs Up!   November 2,2004
Making waves in the New Jersey music scene, Bruce Warren and his band, Surf ResQ, is getting cow-a-bunga attention with each performance. Playing originals as well as re-energized covers of Ventures, Safaris and others in the surfing genre, they've made the "Baywatch list" in the indie marketplace. Look for their forthcoming video and visit the Surf ResQ web site . Hey, dude, way cool.

The November election looms in its importance for our country and the world. No matter what your stance in this great division that grips the United States in its bi-polar disorder, we urge you to vote. We don't have to remind you of how close the last presidential election was; indeed, every vote counts!

Sobecki on American Idol!  January 15, 2004
Marisa Sobecki-Engels, daughter of Marybeth Sobecki (niece of Jon), will be on American Idol on January 19-20. With a sultry voice that only a mother could duplicate, Marisa sings the blues like nobody's business and will clearly be a rocker out of place amidst the sugary, imitative competition. Tune in and vote, and give Marisa your support! !
