David Spence Hiller, drummer, was the only non-New Jersey member of the group (from Bethesda, Maryland). Once, after he showed up more than an hour late for the very regular practice session in Blairstown, he was surrounded by the other peeved band members. Each grabbing one of his limbs, they carried him, and, on three, heaved him into the stagnant pond on the property. He said it was a waltz since they threw him on three.
During his time with Fables, Spence was seen playing a clarinet and a glockenspiel.
