Jeff Hays, bass guitarist, was described by a radio announcer as the Abraham Lincoln of the group, alluding to Jeff being the link between the North and South New Jersey cultures. Someone once said that if you liked a band, it meant you liked the playing of the bass player. (It wasn’t even Jeff who said this.)
The Mad Fables bassist contained a well of energy from which the music dipped its cup. Jeff qualified for having the biggest instrument-- his upright bass was larger than the Hammond organ.
